What's the point of the PSAT?

A couple of new comments on an old post reminded me that it's now the season for juniors to be waiting for their PSAT scores and wondering what it's all about. Last January I interviewed college admissions counselor Kate Augus to answer that question. Here's a link to that post for those wondering about it this year.

Hi Caroline,

A belated thanks; I've found your blog to be super helpful, and you once provided deadline information just in time for us. Are you planning any updates? I'd especially like to hear your thoughts on that onerous process known as FAFSA, tips for handling rejection, and decision-making help once those acceptances (hopefully) start rolling in.

I appreciate your good work with this blog.

Many institutions limit access to their online information. Making this information available will be an asset to all.
